As camps of all shapes, sizes, and missions unfold across Michigan this summer, one unique camp is all about what attendees do after camp is over.

Since 2019, the Michigan League for Public Policy has been offering what it calls advocacy boot camp. Focused on community engagement, the one-day camp, which is free and offered usually twice a year, aims to give grassroots activists the tools they need to be successful.

Jayme Vosovic, the league’s community engagement director, developed the camp’s curriculum, which she said strives to teach attendees where to start when navigating advocacy and public policy.
