2026 Forum Header

The Lansing Center | Lansing, MI

This year’s forum theme is 250 Years and Counting: Working to fulfill the promise of democracy in America and we are proud to announce that our 2026 keynote speaker will be Natalie Foster, co-founder of the Economic Security Project. An unstoppable builder, Natalie previously founded the sharing economy community Peers, co-founded Rebuild the Dream with Van Jones and served as Digital Director for President Obama’s Organizing for America – a leading partner in winning transformative health care reform. She is the author of The Guarantee: Inside the Fight for America’s Next Economy, which explores what is possible when we guarantee economic rights and prosperity for all.

Following Natalie’s keynote address, a panel of experts will have a conversation about the history of the fight for equal rights, ways Michigan can move forward toward the promise of democracy, and policy solutions that will help improve outcomes for kids, families and workers.

The forum brings together hundreds of individuals who care deeply about building a stronger Michigan for all people — from policymakers to legislators, advocates, educators, members of foundations and community organizations, and other community members and stakeholders. We look forward to seeing you there on April 30!

THANK YOU TO OUR GROWING LIST OF SPONSORS:

Thank you to everyone who helped make our 2025 Public Policy Forum a success!

We were thrilled to have so many partners and fellow advocates join us for our Public Policy Forum on March 13!

The event started off with a few words from the League’s Board Chair, Sonia Harb. League President and CEO Monique Stanton took the stage next with a short address and introduced the recipient of this year’s Sharon Parks Award, Angela Reyes of the Detroit Hispanic Development Corporation.

The keynote address from Ashleigh Gardere of PolicyLink was filled with wisdom and encouragement in building economic justice in Michigan. The address was followed by our panel, which featured Gabe Gonzalez from Economic Security Project; Donna Price, a housing advocate from Detroit; and Dr. Michael Shepherd, a professor from the University of Michigan working on rural healthcare policy. Kyle Caldwell of the Council of Michigan Foundations moderated the powerful discussion.

You can read more about the day here over on the League’s Bluesky account.

We want to thank everyone who was able to join us, as well as our generous sponsors.
