Who We Are

OUR MISSION

The League uses data to educate, advocate and fight for policy solutions that undo historic and systemic racial and economic inequities to lift up Michiganders who have been left out of prosperity.

The League has been working since 1912 on the issues you care about.

The League was established as the Michigan Conference of Charities and Corrections in 1912,  focusing on incarceration policies, social welfare issues, and child labor laws.

Our commitment to the people of Michigan is unwavering, and throughout the years we’ve evolved and strengthened that commitment by targeting issues like racial equity, healthcare, housing, education, child care and more. We’re also the home of Kids Count in Michigan and collaborate with organizations around the state that are doing work to improve outcomes for all.

Building a stronger Michigan begins with building a strong team. The League prides itself on its team, which is a diverse group of experts from diverse backgrounds who are committed to our values of nonpartisanship and opportunity for all.
