In Blog: Factually Speaking

Spring has arrived in Michigan, with warmer days ahead and opportunities to get outdoors and enjoy all that our beautiful state has to offer. Here at the League, the arrival of spring also has us busy preparing for a signature event that we’re excited to host each year: our 2026 Public Policy Forum. This year’s forum is officially a month away and that means crunch time for everyone involved in making this special event come together. You can find all the details on the forum, including this year’s exceptional lineup of honored guests and speakersregistration information and sponsorship opportunities online.

As the United States celebrates the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence this July, it’s important that we recognize that democracy is still an unfulfilled dream that we must work toward for the sake of future generations and the future of our nation. That’s how we arrived at the theme for this year’s forum: 250 Years and Counting: Working to fulfill the promise of democracy in America.

During the forum, we’ll engage in thought-provoking conversations that seek to define what America is at this moment and, more importantly, what it should be. As our country faces threats to healthcare, food security, child care, education, immigration, data and so much more, it’s critical that we work together toward the democracy that we all deserve. The forum will also provide a space for exploring policy solutions that ensure a brighter future for Michigan’s kids and families.

Each year, the forum draws together hundreds of people who care deeply about building a stronger Michigan for everyone. Policymakers, advocates, educators, members of foundations and community organizations, and other stakeholders join us annually for our policy forums. Don’t miss this opportunity to be a part of a vital conversation at this pivotal moment in our nation’s history. Visit the forum registration webpage to reserve your spot!
