Legislation that would make most first-time drunken driving convictions eligible for expungement got final approval from Michigan lawmakers this week — and Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has signaled she’ll sign the measures.

The final bills in a package to make the change were approved with wide bipartisan support in the state House Tuesday. In a statement, Whitmer spokesperson Bobby Leddy said the governor “looks forward to signing this legislation.”
