Most Michiganders seeking unemployment have finally received benefits, but the flood of applications during the coronavirus pandemic has stretched the limits of the system and exposed serious flaws.

More than 90% of the 1.65 million Michigan residents who filed a legitimate claim since COVID-19 was found in Michigan have received a total of more than $5.6 billion in benefits, according to the state’s labor department.
