…The Medicaid work requirement provision is one that is causing particular concern among health groups. In Michigan, the state’s Department of Human Services “estimated that, depending on what the work requirement looks like, it could cost the state up to an additional $155 million in the first year due to administrative costs alone,” said Monique Stanton, president and CEO of the Michigan League for Public Policy, said during the online event. “This means that we would be spending more on bureaucratic costs, such as IT systems and staffing, rather than investing in access to healthcare at a time when people need it.”
