In a recent report released by the Michigan League for Public Policy, Michigan’s labor force has lost 326,000 workers since 2000.

“Since the unemployment rate was last this low in 2000, Michigan has been steadily losing workers, and our workforce is getting older, neither of which bodes well for our economic future,” said Gilda Z. Jacobs, president and CEO of MLPP.

Michigan’s labor force reached its peak of 5.16 million workers in 2000, but that number had decreased to 4.84 million by 2016. In August 2017, the civilian labor force had again declined to 4,833,000. Sep 16, 2017- Holland Sentinel
