The Michigan League for Public Policy (MLPP) recently shared data that shows how much women and men earn in each Michigan county. The numbers also include state median wages for both genders.

Compared to the state median wages per gender, both women and men in Otsego County show a gap compared to the state medians.

However, the differences for women in the county are much more pronounced than men’s disparities.

As a state, MLPP numbers show women earn 77 cents for every dollar that Michigan men make — while Otsego County women are listed at 71 percent.

Otsego County women ranked last when compared to men’s wages in the rest of the tip of the mitt, according to the MLPP.

Women in Otsego County show a median wage of $31,753 and men in the county have a median wage of $44,640.

Between median wages for men at the county level and the more affluent state level, men in Otsego County earned $6,795 less per year.

Otsego County women earned $7,970 less than the state’s median salary for women.

MLPP also shows wage gaps using census data each year for larger cities in the state and shows gender disparities by legislative districts. April 8, 2019 – Gaylord Herald Times
