One of the hardest things for a working parent is childcare challenges, and if you feel like things have been harder than usual, you’re not alone. In fact, research from the Michigan League for Public Policy shows 44% of Michigan families are living in a childcare desert.

That means the ratio of children ages 0-5 to the number of licensed child care spots is greater than three. According to that study, only one county in the state had enough spots for children in 2020.
