…Groups advocating on behalf of Michigan schools are pushing back, saying flexibility isn’t a bad thing, but food security for kids should not be sacrificed to make it happen.

“It’s a really important program that deserves to have its own dedicated funding to ensure that it’s not diverted to other things,” said Michigan League for Public Policy Senior Policy Analyst Julie Cassidy.

The sentiment is shared by the Michigan Association of School Boards.
