Recent Michigan State University research found only two Michigan counties are not a childcare desert – an area with three or more children competing for space in a facility – for kids under 3 years old. And the U.S. Chamber of Commerce reported Michigan loses nearly $3 billion a year when parents struggle to find childcare.
