The $7 billion still left on the table following the state’s largest budget deal in history is being eyed as part of the conversation to give Michiganders some form of a tax cut. But when that could occur remains a mystery.

Lawmakers early Friday signed off on $75.7 billion in spending across the state’s various agencies and organizations, with $19.6 billion going into the School Aid Fund. Priorities funded within the budget include a $9,150 per-pupil foundational allowance for schools, $2.65 billion to pay down public employee pension systems and a cumulative $6 billion toward rebuilding local roads, repairing bridges and improving airport and transit systems.
