The number of children living in poverty in Grand Rapids has steadily declined over the last decade, following a statewide trend of more Michigan families being able to make ends meet since 2010.

Thirty-three percent of children under the age of 17 in Grand Rapids lived in poverty in 2019, which is down from 44% in 2010, according to new statistics released by the Michigan League for Public Policy this week.
