That fact was driven home in a recently released study by the Kids Count folks who are part of the Annie E. Casey Foundation. Each year, Kids Count uses statistics and formulas to compile a snapshot of the quality of life for students across Michigan.

While Northeast Michigan children improved in many areas from last year, there still remains many other concerns that need addressed.

One area that improved in all four of our local counties was the number of children living in poverty. It was gratifying to see that the percentage of children whose family had at least one working parent in it grew considerably this past year.
