Perspective Gained

Today's reading was timely as today is Indigenous People's Day. Living in the Pacific Northwest means a lot to me as the tribes are very active in enforcing their treaties. I feel very privileged to have made a friend this year who is First Nation's, from Vancouver Island. She has shared her story with me and vice versa. It all started with a conversation about where we've worked. I feel very lucky to live in the west where I grew up with Navajo, Piaute and other tribal members. They have taught me a lot and to see them and to see the land we all live on as borrowed and to be respected.

These pieces really resonated with me and I learned a lot about how science and measurements can eliminate a people and culture.
