A major goal of the Kids Count Project is to raise the age of juvenile court jurisdiction from 17 to 18 years of age. Michigan remains one of only four states that automatically prosecute all 17-year-olds as adults. This policy is at odds with state laws and national and international policies that declare adulthood to begin at age 18.
